If the motor in the saw you are looking at doesn't run, I would offer the seller $100.00 and have it rebuilt at a shop or walk. I find that if it isn't cutting well, I should be cleaning the blade!

I was going to change the drive belts, but that is probably the most intimidating looking job I have contemplated. I had to replace the switch and the fence, but everything else is original. They look similar with the mounting bracket, but I did not go further. I abandoned the idea, but came across Grizzly H5387 and H5389 much later. I found the odd Reliance unit for $500.00 plus. Just after getting it I thought that I should juice it up to 3-5 hp, because that is what you had to do. My saw is similar, 1970's vintage, 1-1/2 hp. The unisaw style has a mounting frame that is "different" and hard to find. I've got the Delta T2 fence that I got for cheap, works great. You can get a good T-square style fence, Biesemeyer or equivalent. But as has been said, you have to see/hear it in person to know for sure. I would take a look at it, if it looks good I would definitely pay $350-400 for it, some new wiring, maybe belts, switch, btw the throat plate looks original, I've got a NOS Rockwell one in the package still. You can get a new magnetic switch for it or find a good brand name used one for around $100. Don't worry about the motor, I've ripped through 3" maple no problem (obviously with a good sharp rip blade) Its not "exaggerated" HP. I've got the exact same saw however it was equipped with a AB magnetic starter from when it was bought new.
